Verne Troyer, best known for his role in the Austin Powers movies, has died at the age of 49. He was 2ft 8in tall and also played Griphook in the first Harry Potter movie, (the vault goblin). He starred in dozens of movies and even appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK.

He has also made regular appearances on Celebrity Juice and starred in Keith Lemon’s feature-length film, Keith Lemon: The Film. Mike Myers also shared a statement with The Hollywood Reporter saying:

‘Verne was the consummate professional and a beacon of positivity for those of us who had the honour of working with him. It is a sad day, but I hope he is in a better place. He will be greatly missed.’

Warwick Davis, another actor of restricted growth, paid tribute to him also.

Earlier this month, Troyer was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital, but it was not revealed what was suffering from. He was treated for alcohol addiction last year and released a statement addressing his problems.

‘While it’s not always been an easy fight, I’m willing to continue my fight day by day.’

Troyer starred as Mini-Me in the Austin Powers movies and also had roles in things like Men in Black, and The Grinch.

He will be missed.
