2014 has potentially been one of the best years for music, with plenty of great songs topping the charts. With great artists coming back again and again, we can’t forget that there have been many great, new performers too.
1. ‘Thinking Out Loud’ – Ed Sheeran
This is undoubtedly one of the best songs of the year, with it topping the singles chart after spending a whole 19 weeks in the top 40. With a great video to match it, showing off Ed’s romantic side (not that we hadn’t seen plenty of that before), it is a fantastic track to listen to.
2. ‘All About that Bass’ – Meghan Trainor
Although there has been some debate about whether or not this song promotes a fair body image, it still has a great beat and is definitely worth singing along to.
3. ‘All of Me’ – John Legend
This is a sweet, lovely song and we absolutely love it.
4. ‘Night Changes’ – One Direction
We can’t forget One Direction, can we? Despite being released in the recent months, Night Changes has stormed onto the charts, and has a great video to match, melting our hearts.
5. ‘Rather Be’ – Clean Bandit
This is a great song, which is upbeat and great to sing and dance to.
6. ‘Budapest’ – George Ezra
George Ezra has recently hit the charts with a few great songs, popping out from nowhere. He has a unique voice, but it sounds fantastic.
7. ‘Happy’ – Pharrell Williams
Despite being overplayed on possibly every radio station across the country, we can’t help singing along to Pharrell in his track ‘Happy’.
8. ‘Nobody to Love’ – Sigma
This is a fantastic party song, which starts off slow before changing into a fast, upbeat track that makes you want to get up and dance.
9. ‘Stay With Me’ – Sam Smith
After spending 30 weeks in the charts with Stay With Me, Sam Smith is still being listened to everywhere, releasing even more great music. His lyrics are honest and from the heart, which is why this is such a good listen.
10. ‘My Love’ – Route 94 ft Jess Glynne
Again, this is another great party song. The lyrics are simple and easy to learn, so you won’t look stupid pretending you know what to sing! And, it isn’t too hard to dance to…a few dance moves will be enough, with a little bop too.
