Alan Pardew managed Newcastle United from December 2010 – 2014. The fans never really accepted the 53 year old former Crystal Palace footballer and manager. As manager of Newcastle, he won both the Premier League Manager of the Season and the LMA Manager of the Year awards for the 2011–12 season but even with all these accolades the fans were still relieved to see him leave St. James’s Park last week.

Rumours have circulated that Pardew clashed with club owner Mike Ashley but no one really knows the real reason for his departure however speaking to the NUFC website staff, Pardew said ‘It has been a privilege to manage Newcastle United and I want to thank my captain Fabricio Coloccini and all the players, John Carver, Steve Stone, Andy Woodman and all the staff, all of who have been outstanding servants to Newcastle United.

‘A special thanks also goes to the fans for all their support over the last four years. I must also thank Mike Ashley and the board for their unwavering support during my tenure at the Club.’

Steve McClaren and Lyon’s head coach, Remi Garde, have been shortlisted to replace Pardew after he has now taken over the manager role at south London side, Crystal Palace.

However caretaker boss John Carver insists he is the right man for the role of Newcastle United manager. Carver will be in charge when the Magpies take on Premier League leaders, Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge this weekend and feels the time is right for him to take the job at United after being involved with the club for so long.

A deal is expected to be completed to secure a new manager for the Toon within the next 48 hours.
