A man from North Tyneside has been jailed for 32 months by Newcastle Crown Court after costing the music industry an estimated £240 million. Briton Kane Robinson had released thousands of songs before their release by stars such as Kanye West, Jay Z and Adele.

The web pirate stared up his website, DancingJesus.com, in 2006 when he was teenager. 70 million visitors to the site helped themselves to free downloads, costing the music industry millions in lost revenue.

46 of the 50 best-selling singles of 2010/11 were first leaked on to DancingJesus.com, causing unnecessary loss of earnings for not just the artists but everyone involved in creating the music that was made available on the file sharing site. Robinson was finally arrested after police seized 46,000 MP3 files from his many computers.
