Power Couple

Jay Z and Beyoncé have topped the Billboard Music Power List. The couple were voted top of the power 100 list by the magazine editors who analysed market share, revenue and other data to come up with the movers and shakers in the music industry. Beyoncé and Jay Z must be rolling in the money as both have their own companies, Roc Nation founded by Jay Z and Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment.

No wonder the A-list pair topped the power list as just last year Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail sold over 528,000 copies in the US in its first week of physical release; and Beyoncé’s new album Beyoncé has sold over 1.43 million copies in total having only been released on December 13th without any prior warning. Beyoncé sold over 617,000 copies in the first three days of release when it was only available on iTunes.

Other notable inclusions on the list included Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine (10)  along with Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun (33).
