So, the Grammy Awards happened on Sunday, celebrating the best of the best in music. We saw artists like Twenty-One Pilots win best group performance for their song ‘Stressed Out’.

They did their acceptance speech in their undies.

Good boys.

Jay Z was watching Blue Ivy while mum performed like the queen she is.

Slay.

And Adele took home three awards. One of which, she snapped in half.

Why?

To share it with Beyoncé, who, many feel, was snubbed out of being recognised for Lemonade in the album of the year category, which was arguably the best thing to come out of 2016.

There has been a rather large outcry over what happened, and many people have voiced their opinion on the matter.

You might disagree with them, but they have a point. And the evidence of institutionalised racism is undeniably real.

Some are arguing that the award just went to the best album.

Todd VanDerWerff, writer for Vox, offered an explanation as to why Beyoncé didn’t get the award.

He said it was “full of ageing white baby boomers, who might be outnumbered in aggregate by younger, more diverse people, but who also tend to vote as a bloc and promote the sorts of things that appeal to their ears.”

This would explain why artists like Kendrick Lamar lost out to Taylor Swift in 2016.

To summarise my feelings here:

The real hero here though?

Rihanna. You know why? Because she’s just game to have a good time, despite not winning one award.

She slays. Truly.

As does Busta Rhymes for his performance with A Tribe Called Quest, Anderson .Paak, and Consequence.
