Advance sales for Disney-Marvel’s Black Panther are the highest for any Marvel movie, topping the likes of Civil War within 24 hours.

Sales launched at the beginning of the week for the February bound movie. Out of most of the Marvel movies to date, this has been the most anticipated, clearly. Chadwick Boseman stars as T’Challa, who took the mantle of the Panther, after the death of his father.

The film will also star Andy Serkis, and Michael B. Jordan, as T’Challa’s rival, Killmonger.

Black Panther will open worldwide on 16th February.

Panther made his first appearance in 2016’s Civil War. Since then, the hype for Black Panther’s own movie has been high.

Ticket seller Fandango said:

‘It’s one of the biggest and most anticipated movies to ever open in the month of February, and its trailers have electrified the internet. Tickets have been going fast ever since pre-sales started on Fandango late Monday.’

Fandango said that a survey of over 8,000 moviegoers showed that the upcoming movie was voted as one of the year’s top two anticipated movies, second only to Infinity War, another Marvel movie. Many are speculating as to how Black Panther will be the stepping off point to Infinity War, which is arguably the most ambitious project ever attempted in film.

Captain America: Civil War is one of the world’s biggest movies, grossing $1.15 billion world-wide after its initial release in May 2016.

I’d put bets on that Infinity War will meet that and have enough to buy a small island.
