Spider-Man has never been so popular it seems.

With the iconic hero currently on loan to Marvel, Sony is doing all it can with what’s left of the multitude of Spider-Man IP’s. With the upcoming Venom movie currently in production, to be followed by Silver and Black in 2019, focusing on Silver Sable, it has been reported that another, a rather small character, will be entering the cinematic universe for the first time.

He has a very classic vampire look about him. The OG goth if you will.

Titled Morbius: The Living Vampire, the movie will centre around Marvel’s second famous vampire, aside from Blade. Morbius makes appearances in a couple of comics, with Spider-Man, Blade and The Defenders. The script has already been written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who penned last year’s Power Rangers and are known for movies like Dracula Untold, The Last Witch Hunter and *shudder* Gods of Egypt. The Hollywood Reporter has said that Sony is going through a ‘secret development process’, so no further details are known.

The character first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101 in 1971. Morbius is a scientist, who suffers from a rare disease and to cure himself, he accidentally gives himself the attributes of a vampire.

A very niche movie but who knows.

Recently Venom has been shooting in Atlanta. The movie will star Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock who becomes possessed by an alien Symbiote, giving him unique powers.
