Ahead of its full release in August, Ark: Survival Evolved is getting a price hike, from £25.99 ($29.99) to £54.99 ($60). The developers justified this by claiming it was to ‘ensure retail parity’. It’s an odd move, given that the game could often be found on Steam, reduced to as little as £7.99.

The full version price is now on all platforms, so if you missed out on the sale, too bad.

He’s a good big boy.

If you bought the game before then, you don’t need to worry, you will have the full game. The add-on Scorched Earth does not come with the full game, however, and will now cost £14.99.

The Steam page did say on its initial Early Access release that they would be putting the price up when the game got closer to release.

I played about forty minutes of the game, which consisted of running around, punching a tree, making a hatchet out of said tree, murdering a turtle, then getting eaten by a velociraptor. Safe to say I refunded it.

In other Early Access News, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is guaranteed to leave Early Access by October, keeping to its six months pledge the developers, Bluehole, made at the beginning of the game’s release on Steam.

PUBG’s newest map was unveiled a few days ago and looks pretty neat.

Brendan Greene, PlayerUnknown himself, even said at E3:

“People tell us we’re not going to be out of early access in six months; challenge accepted. I can guarantee you, six or seven months and we’re out of early access. It’s the team. It’s a matter of honor, you know? We will finish this game in six months.”

Props to them for sticking to that goal, instead of turning into a cash cow then buggering off to work on an entirely new project before it’s finished.

Looking at you DayZ.
