As the two Mercedes drivers enter into the final four races of the Formula 1 Season, both drivers have the same motto: “It’s not over until it’s over.”

Rosberg has maintained his lead over Hamilton, with 33 more points – more than an entire complete race. However, there are still 100 points up for grabs, so it is definitely possible that the British driver could gain the points back.

Hamilton has already recovered quite a large amount of ground since his literal breakdown a few races ago. In the four races from Monaco to Austria, he managed to get his 43-point deficit down to an 11-point one.

That’s 32 points, meaning he’s only one short of what he needs to obtain.

But things haven’t exactly been smooth sailing for Rosberg either, particularly in Monaco, where he had to let Hamilton take the position ahead of him, or they would have both lost the race. The Red Bull pit stop didn’t have the tires ready for their racer Daniel Ricciardo’s pit stop, which gave Hamilton just enough time to steal the lead.

When Hamilton requested Rosberg let him through, he said in an interview later: “The feeling in the car – a complete lack of confidence – was more painful. The second thing [being instructed to let Hamilton through] was just a consequence of that. It was pretty obvious l didn’t have the pace to win.”

The only team who can challenge Mercedes at the moment seem to be Red Bull, and with the in-house rivalry between the two Mercedes drivers, this season just keeps getting more interesting by the race.

Our guess is it’ll be down to the wire.

Hamilton really needs to pull it out of the bag if he wants to win, and continue his winning streak of the last few years.
