Midweek Blues

It’s been a crappy couple of weeks, hasn’t it?
June, in particular, has been a bit awful. It seems to be every week something horrible happens. The heaviest hit being London in the UK. With the attack the other day, in which five people lost their lives and very recently, last night.
Grenfell Tower went up in flames early this morning, and there is still no explanation as to why. Six people have been confirmed dead, and parts of the building are still on fire.

London Mayer Sadiq Khan has said that questions need to be answered.
That’s the news bit done. It’s sad and awful, and other synonyms for awful. But like we’ve seen in the past month, people will help. There are drop off points set up for things like clothes and toys anyone wants to donate.

People have been out all day campaigning, collecting donations and simple things like blankets which are “always useful”. Kensington Church opened its doors to hundreds of people, and the local community has been “incredibly generous”.
Since the wee hours of this morning, people have been helping out at the church, just so people have a roof over their head and some comfort. Reverend Alan Everett has said that they have been looking after “acutely distressed” residents, and their main goal was “to provide water, breakfast, tea and coffee and a toilet.
“We’re planning for the rest of the day. We’re providing lunch and supper and if necessary we’re providing a place to stay overnight.”
Other people and businesses are offering any help they can, whether it be opening up their homes for tea, or mobile companies offering the public to use their facilities as points of contact for people wanting to get in touch with anyone.
