As of the 6th of November, Disney – thanks to Doctor Strange – hit its biggest earning ever recorded, collectively pulling in over $6 billion in this year alone.

While it is not an industry record, it’s quite a feat. Not many companies could say they rake in over $6 billion every year. The current industry record is held by Universal, after their huge 2015 hit Jurassic World became the fourth biggest movie opening ever.

Deadline have said that Disney could well surpass Universal’s record in the next month, with the release of Moana, and Rogue One.

Disney’s biggest hitters this year include Civil War, Finding Dory, Zootopia, and The Jungle Book, which wowed critics and movie-goers alike with its new live action take on the classic tale.

Doctor Strange has already made $85 million in its opening weekend in the US. Worldwide it has made over $300 million.

Lauren, one of our delightful correspondents, reviewed the movie, calling it ‘simply a great film’.

Check out the review here.

And the hype train for Rogue One keeps on chugging.
