Jeremy Clarkson returns with his two best mates with what is essentially Top Gear 2.0.

The first episode of The Grand Tour premiered on the 18th, and has shattered viewing records for Amazon Prime. While it hasn’t published its official figures, Amazon says it has overtaken The Man in The High Castle, with literally millions of streams in the UK, Germany, Austria, America, and even Japan.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said, “The guys are back, doing what they do best.

“The chemistry between Jeremy, Richard and James is what makes The Grand Tour so entertaining.”

The show was received incredibly well.

The Evening Standard, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Digital Spy have all sung its praises, calling it ‘stunning’, ‘bigger, brighter and more blow-upier’ than Top Gear ever was. Jeremy Clarkson, who was fired from the BBC last year, after punching producer Oisin Tymon in the face, tweeted saying:

As well as record audiences, new Prime memberships soared too.

“Their creativity, along with the amazing production quality and 4K HDR streaming, has Prime members responding in a big way. Kudos and congrats to the whole team,” added Jeff Bezos.

The second episode will air this Friday, and will see the boys head to Johannesburg, South Africa.

Many are saying that Jeremy Clarkson leaving the BBC is the best thing that could have happened to his career.
