Let’s get this straight, most Christmas movies are cheap, rehashed ideas that are quick ways to make money during the holidays. Considering this fact, let’s have a look at some of the exceptions.

A Muppets Christmas Carol – Can’t fault this film really. Starring a young Michael Cain, it’s a lovely take on the classic Scrooge story, with some familiar Muppet faces. Look me in the eyes and tell me this isn’t mad fire fam.

The Nightmare Before Christmas – Probably the most recognisable film ever made, this Tim Burton classic offers spooks and some cool animation. It’s gone down as one of Tim Burton’s most famous and most recognizable films.

The Grinch – Look me in the eye and say you’ve never seen this. If you love Jim Carrey being weird for an hour and a half, then this is probably your jam.

Home Alone – A classic movie. Kevin McAlister is left home alone by possibly the worst mother in the world. Hilarity Ensues. A quality Christmas movie.

Scrooged – Bill Murray stars as a ‘modern’ 90s Scrooge. He hates people then goes on a journey with some grittier ghosts than previously seen.

Die Hard It’s a Christmas film. End of argument. Here’s Bruce Willis trying to fit through a vent.

The Polar Express – A magical train turns up on Christmas Eve, selecting certain kids to go meet Santa. Sounds a bit weird when you say it like that.

Love Actually – a who’s who of celebrity faces star in this heart warming movie. The film has a few storylines that all combine by the end. It’s pretty good. RIP Alan Rickman.

Elf – Will Ferrell is a large man-boy who thinks he’s an elf. That’s it. That’s the movie.

It’s a Wonderful LifeAn oldie but still gold. Considering it was made in the 40s, this is still worth a watch. It follows the story of a man who spends his whole life doing things for other people and doesn’t ask for anything in return.

Well, there you go.
