We’ve had some incredible weather this week, and for once it seems as though it may last all the way through to the bank-holiday weekend.

So, why not make the most out of it?

This weekend, Whitley Bay is hosting a carnival, with lots of great activities and some even better costumes.

The event kicks off on Friday (today) at 6pm with a family-friendly ball, which you can find more about here. Then, you’ll be able to catch the parade on Saturday, making its way through the town centre to the Spanish city plaza at about midday.

Lots of children from across the local area have been preparing for the big event, making costumes and practising dance moves.

You’ll also be able to experience The Big Sing, a collection of choirs from across the region performing as one on the carnival stage.

If that isn’t enough to tempt you, there’ll even be lots of food and drink on sale, as well as some arts stalls.

What are you waiting for?
