So, almost a month after its release, it’s rather decided what the verdict is on No Man’s Sky, from a consumer’s perspective.

After seeing a few friends (and my own family) get sucked into the hype and be bitterly disappointed, I’ve made the decision to spend £39.99 elsewhere. Below you’ll find a bulk of information as to why – read on if you dare.

Let’s talk about this guy first:

Sean Murray, the lead developer of Hello Games, and the face of No Man’s Sky for the last three years. He promised us fleet battles, interesting wildlife, and exploration of vibrant planets. What we were presented with, however, was the reality of a lie stretched out across three years. From lying about multiplayer, to showing obviously pre-made footage at E3 this year, depicting huge space battles and wildlife, to the shoddy PC port. The amount of impulsive lies given by Sean Murray in interviews is astounding, and a massive discredit to games that actually keep their word. A number of videos online have surfaced, picking apart his promises, and my favourite so far is:

From here, we’ll go to the gameplay.

There’s a certain kind of grind I love. Like Warframe level of grind, where you’re being awesome and killing dudes to get resources over and over. However. No Man’s Sky grind is the worst. It’s go find resources, recharge your tech with those resources then rinse and repeat. The shooting is meh. Like, not even Call of Duty level of meh. The ships are exactly the same, no matter what they said: every ship preforms exactly the same, and inventory management is a pain in the b**p.

Holding a button to select things? What, is that supposed to lengthen the amount of time you have the game for so you can’t refund it? It’s asinine and downright annoying to have to recharge your crap by going through three menus while in a fight or during flight.

Then we have the obvious port problems we’ve discussed before; check out the video below for a better understanding.

My biggest concern is that what isn’t in the game now but was promised you will end up having to pay for.

I won’t be purchasing No Man’s Sky, simply due to the moral practices behind it. The biggest rumour is that after it was scheduled for both PC and PS4, Sony wanted the game as fast as possible, hence its unfinished state.

The biggest thing that has annoyed many fans would be the con of the game, the fact that getting to the centre of the universe simply restarts the game.

The entire thing was a con.

All in all,  No Man’s Sky can be summed up with one simple review:

i am dead
