Dangerous Dog Strikes In North East Park

Eleven schoolchildren have been injured in a rampant dog attack in a Blyth Park yesterday morning (Thursday 19th May).
It is believed that the dog involved was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which – although normally good-natured – do have a colourful history when it comes to violent attacks. Northumbria Police have arrested a 37-year-old woman on suspicion of keeping a dog dangerously out of control. The fate of the dog remains unknown, although it is currently being held in secure police kennels.
After it started mauling the band of schoolchildren, panicked parents acted desperately to restrain the dog, with one resident saying: “I’m a dog lover and it killed me to sit on it and hold its face to the ground. But it was a powerful dog – not a nice thing to happen.”
When the animal entered the park, it seemed to be quite jovial and excitable, but not aggressive – it was even licking some of the children playfully. However, the volatile dog quickly became hostile – one schoolgirl described the incident as being “like a horror film, with kids screaming, lying on the grass and being sick”.
