Ed’s Million

Ed Sheeran has become the 10th artist in the last five years to sell over one million copies of an album in the UK. His album, X, includes songs such as ‘Thinking Out Loud’ and ‘Sing,’  both of which have sat on top of the charts in the UK and Australia. All twelve songs from Ed’s new album made it onto the Official Singles Chart Top 100. With X being at the top of the album charts for eight straight weeks, it’s no wonder it’s the UK’s fastest-selling and longest-running number one album of 2014.

Ed joins other British acts such as Emeli Sande, Adele, Take That and Susan Boyle to hit the one million mark in the last five years. Adele hit the millionth record sale with 21 and 19 back in 2011. Michael Buble has sold one million copies of three of his Christmas compilations in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
