We’re going to do something different this week. With a bit of a change from the norm, and in light of some recent events, I thought we’d look at what to do when you’re anxious or generally feeling meh, complete with gifs and wit.

That's the way Lisa.
That’s the way Lisa.

Write something down – It sounds clichéd and awful, but writing actually works. It’s like flushing out all of the negativity you might be holding onto. Let it go. It’s not worth getting upset over. It doesn’t even have to be anything particularly coherent. Just scribble something down.

If the world were more like House it'd be a simpler place.

Distract yourself – It sounds hard, but if you can find something to throw yourself into, do it. If it’s a game, slay those dragons, rise through the leader boards, if it’s running, go until you can’t anymore. Oh, you can sing? Hum to yourself while at your computer (main culprit of that is right here), sing when no one’s home if it helps.

Always.
Always.

Chat to someone – your wife, your husband, your girlfriend or boyfriend. Your parents, your friends, anyone you think might be able to help. Go see your buds and have a night in, play some games or just chit chat. Your friends like you. Always remember that.

He is me.
He is me.

Watch your favourite shows, or some new ones – As humans, we like to see ourselves in the characters in film and media. I’d recommend shows like Bojack Horseman, a show about an out-of-work actor at the end of his rope; at least your life isn’t as bad as his. If you want something a bit lighter (and albeit a bit weirder), try Adventure Time, or Steven Universe. Two really awesome cartoons with enough humour and pluck to keep it interesting.

And if all else fails, do not ever think you’re a burden. You aren’t. You’re worth fighting for, and while it might not look too good now, it will eventually. Just be around to see that

Well, that was a rather deep Midweek Blues article.

Next week, we will return to our regular broadcast of funny animals and people doing weird stuff.

Happy Wednesday folks, y’all are great.
