Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia is one of the most wealthy people in the world and has announced that he will be giving his entire fortune to his charity, ‘Alwaleed Philanthropies’. The organisation’s main focus is to support communities and promote tolerance and compassion towards other cultures. They also have many projects geared towards women’s rights and curing diseases.

Philanthropy has been important to the prince for 30 years and he describes it as “an intrinsic part of my Islamic faith”.

For so many people, hearing this is refreshing as we’re all so often told that people in the West have a moral high ground. Now it’s just time to wait for Queen Liz to flog her crown on eBay and give the funds to a cause worthier than her head…

However, Prince William has become the first prince to work a regular job. He recently joined the mountain rescue service and will give all of his salary to charity. But it is clear that the biggest charitable hero right now is Prince Alwaleed.
