Jeffrey Tambor has revealed he is ‘extremely disappointed’ in Amazon’s handling of the sexual harassment allegations against him.

The company confirmed that he would not be returning to reprise his role in Transparent after it concluded an internal investigation. The allegations were made last year, by Tambor’s personal assistant and a co-star on the show.

The creator of the series Jill Soloway praised the accusers after it was confirmed he would not be returning. She noted ‘their courage to speak out’.

In November, the transgender woman who worked as Tambor’s personal assistant stated that he had acted inappropriately.

Amazon then launched a full investigation.

Tambor expressed his disappointment, saying:

‘I am profoundly disappointed in Amazon’s handling of these false accusations against me.

‘In our four-year history of working together on this incredible show, these accusations have never been revealed or discussed directly with me or anyone at Amazon. Therefore, I can only surmise that the investigation against me was deeply flawed and biased toward the toxic politicised atmosphere that afflicted our set.’

Mere hours after Tambor’s exit from the show, a poster for The Death of Stalin, another project he stars in, was released with his face removed. He was replaced by his co-star Andrea Riseborough and starred Steve Buscemi, Jason Isaacs, Rupert Friend and Michael Palin.

Transparent has won numerous awards including Critics Choice in 2016 and 2014 and Best Actor.

A shame it’s been tarnished by another scandal.
