10. Mega flowers

The biggest flower on earth can be found growing in the forests of Malaysia. The Rafflesia flower is extremely large in size reaching up to 1 metre in diameter. More impressively, it can weigh as much as 10kg.

9. Street food

Malaysia is considered by many to be the home of the best street food on the planet. Kuala Lumpur is considered to be a melting pot for many Asian cultures to come together to blend together different cooking styles.

8. Manglish

Much like the Singaporean Singlish, Malaysians also use an informal version of English widely known as Manglish. Some of the words utilised in this informal dialect are the same as in Singlish including the popular phrase ‘lah’.

7. Petronas Towers

Malaysia is home to the largest twin towers in the world. The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur reach a height of 452metres. These towers were also formerly the largest individual towers in the world before being overtaken.

In many eastern countries, the number four is considered to be unlucky due to its pronunciation sounding like the word for death. As a result in Malaysia, many buildings will be built without a fourth floor due to Chinese influence.

While many countries across the world have legalised the possession of Cannabis, Malaysia still maintains strict laws surrounding the possession of it. Possession of the substance could lead to the death penalty if you are holding enough of the drug.

4. Cave

Malaysia is home to the second-largest cave chamber on the planet. The Sarawak chamber is so large that eight jumbo jets could fit within the chamber with ease.

3. Durian fruit

Malaysia is home to the Durian fruit. Durian fruit is considered to be the most disgusting smelling fruit on the planet. While it smells disgusting, many people consider the fruit to be a delicacy.

2. Singapore

Singapore was briefly part of Malaysia. Singapore separated from Malaysia in 1965 following serious political disputes between the two nations.
